Mark C. Smith Concert Hall, VBC
    FREE Family Concert

FREE Family Activities: 9:30 AM
FREE Concert: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Music Director and Conductor:
Gregory Vajda

Doors open at 9:30 AM. General admission tickets are handed out at the door to track attendance and make sure that we do not go over capacity. Seating is not assigned and is on a first come, first serve basis. We hand out fewer tickets than we have seats for to ensure that everyone has a seat. This year, we will have volunteer ushers encouraging families to scoot all the way towards the center aisle without leaving empty seats. We will also have clearly designated stroller parking to help alleviate some of the congestion in the hallway.

Recently highlighted in Wes Anderson’s Moonrise KingdomThe Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra by the English composer Benjamin Britten is a marvelous introduction to the symphony. It’s based on a noble tune by Henry Purcell; we’ll also enjoy more of Purcell’s music, and the sprightly Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein. The FREE Family Concert is open to the public at no charge, and is preceded by educational fun and games in the concert hall lobby. There’s something for the whole family!
